<br />Scope of Work <br />Project Title: Restoration of Transformation of the Seawolf Sculpture <br />Project Description <br />The City of Everett seeks to restore and stabilize the public artwork Transformation of the <br />Seawolf, an outdoor metal sculpture by artist James Madison, located at the southeast <br />corner of Colby Avenue and Everett Avenue. The sculpture has sustained wear and bending <br />damage due to environmental exposure and public interaction. This scope of work includes <br />removal, transport, repair, refinishing, reinforcement, and reinstallation of the artwork. <br />Scope of Services <br />James Madison shall perform the following services: <br />1.Removal and Transport <br />o Coordinate with the City of Everett Public Works Department for removal of <br />the sculpture from its existing site. <br />o Transport the sculpture to the artist’s workshop for restoration work. <br />2.Metal Repair and Structural Stabilization <br />o Repair bent and deformed metal elements throughout the sculpture, with <br />particular attention to the whale forms surrounding and supporting the base. <br />o Add additional structural supports where feasible to aid in preventing future <br />bending or deformation of the whale elements that support the base, while <br />preserving the original artistic intent. <br />3.Surface Preparation and Refinishing <br />o Clean, prepare, and refinish all metal components of the sculpture. <br />o Restore original color finishes, including red and black elements, to match <br />the artwork’s original appearance. <br />4.Inspection and Additional Repairs <br />o Conduct a full inspection of the sculpture for additional damage not <br />previously identified. <br />o Repair minor cracks, weld failures, or surface deterioration as needed to <br />ensure overall structural integrity.
