CITY OF EVERETT BID SET <br />EVERETT STATION HVAC AND CONTROLS IMPROVEMENTS <br />PROJECT NO. 24-3201 <br /> <br />01 25 00 -1 SUBSTITUTION PROCEDURES <br />GENERAL <br />1.01 GENERAL <br /> This Section specifies administrative and procedural requirements governing the Contractor's selection of <br />products for use in the project, and administrative procedures for handling requests for substitutions made <br />after award of contract. <br />1.02 DEFINITIONS <br /> Definitions used in this paragraph are not intended to negate the meaning of other terms used in the contract <br />documents. <br /> "Products" are items purchased for incorporation in the work, regardless of whether they were <br />specifically purchased for the project or taken from the Contractor's previously purchased stock. <br /> "Named Products" are products identified by use of the manufacturer's name for a product, <br />including such items as a make or model designation, as recorded in published product literature, <br />of the latest issue as of the date of the contract documents. <br /> "Materials" are products that must be substantially cut, shaped worked, mixed, finished, refined or <br />to otherwise fabricated, processed, or installed to form units of work. <br /> "Equipment" is defined as a product with operational parts, regardless of whether motorized or <br />manually operated, and in particular, a product that requires service connections such as wiring or <br />piping. <br /> The terms "equal", "or equal", "or approved equal" and "or approved" are synonymous. All <br />proposed "equal" products, materials, and equipment must be approved by the substitution <br />request process. <br />1.03 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br /> SOURCE LIMITATIONS: Provide product of same kind, to fullest extent possible, from a single source. <br /> COMPATIBILITY OF OPTIONS: When Contractor is given the option of selecting between two or more <br />products for use on the Project, the product selected shall be compatible with products previously selected, <br />even if previously selected products were also options. <br /> NAME PLATES: Except for required labels and operating data, do not attach or imprint manufacturer's or <br />producer's nameplates or trademark on surfaces of products which will be exposed to view in occupied spaces <br />or on the exterior. <br /> LABELS: Locate required product labels and stamps on a concealed surface or, where required for <br />observation after installation, on an accessible surface that is not conspicuous. <br />1.04 SUBMITTALS <br /> PRODUCT LISTING SUBMITTAL: Submit three (3) copies of the product-listing schedule within thirty (30) days <br />after the date of commencement of the work. Provide a written explanation for omissions of data, and for <br />known variations from contract requirements. At Contractor's option, initial submittal of the product-listing <br />schedule may be limited to product selections and product designations that must be established early in the <br />contract time. Submit completed product-listing schedule within sixty (60) days after commencement of the <br />work.
