CITY OF EVERETT BID SET
EVERETT STATION HVAC AND CONTROLS IMPROVEMENTS
PROJECT NO. 24-3201

01 25 00 -1 SUBSTITUTION PROCEDURES
GENERAL
1.01 GENERAL
This Section specifies administrative and procedural requirements governing the Contractor's selection of
products for use in the project, and administrative procedures for handling requests for substitutions made
after award of contract.
1.02 DEFINITIONS
Definitions used in this paragraph are not intended to negate the meaning of other terms used in the contract
documents.
"Products" are items purchased for incorporation in the work, regardless of whether they were
specifically purchased for the project or taken from the Contractor's previously purchased stock.
"Named Products" are products identified by use of the manufacturer's name for a product,
including such items as a make or model designation, as recorded in published product literature,
of the latest issue as of the date of the contract documents.
"Materials" are products that must be substantially cut, shaped worked, mixed, finished, refined or
to otherwise fabricated, processed, or installed to form units of work.
"Equipment" is defined as a product with operational parts, regardless of whether motorized or
manually operated, and in particular, a product that requires service connections such as wiring or
piping.
The terms "equal", "or equal", "or approved equal" and "or approved" are synonymous. All
proposed "equal" products, materials, and equipment must be approved by the substitution
request process.
1.03 QUALITY ASSURANCE
SOURCE LIMITATIONS: Provide product of same kind, to fullest extent possible, from a single source.
COMPATIBILITY OF OPTIONS: When Contractor is given the option of selecting between two or more
products for use on the Project, the product selected shall be compatible with products previously selected,
even if previously selected products were also options.
NAME PLATES: Except for required labels and operating data, do not attach or imprint manufacturer's or
producer's nameplates or trademark on surfaces of products which will be exposed to view in occupied spaces
or on the exterior.
LABELS: Locate required product labels and stamps on a concealed surface or, where required for
observation after installation, on an accessible surface that is not conspicuous.
1.04 SUBMITTALS
PRODUCT LISTING SUBMITTAL: Submit three (3) copies of the product-listing schedule within thirty (30) days
after the date of commencement of the work. Provide a written explanation for omissions of data, and for
known variations from contract requirements. At Contractor's option, initial submittal of the product-listing
schedule may be limited to product selections and product designations that must be established early in the
contract time. Submit completed product-listing schedule within sixty (60) days after commencement of the
work.
