It shall be her duty to perform such work as any of the commissioners shall direct. Section 3: There shall be in the office of the city attorney the following named assistant , to-wit: One clerk. It shall be the duty of said clerk to perform such duties in relation to said office as the city attorney may authorize and direct. DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE. Section 4: There shall be the following named deputies and assistants in the oft ice of the city clerk, to-wit: Deputy city clerk, and one stenographer. It shall be the duty of such deputy and stenographer in said office to perform the duties pertaining to the office of city clerk under the direction of said city clerk. The city clerk shall be the purchasing agent of Everett, and it shall be his duty as such purchasing agent to advertise for bids for all contracts for city supplies, and report the same for award to the city council , purchase all articles of supplies needed for the city of Everett in its several departments , and conduct salves of all per- sonal property of the city, and in such manner and under such
