J ' regulations as have been or may hereafter be prescribed by ordinances, and perform such other duties as the city council may direct. Section 5: There shall be the following named deputies and assistants in the office of the city treasurer: Deputy treasurer, assistant deputy treasurer, one stenographer, one assistant stenog- rapher. It shall be the duty of the deputies in said office to per- form such duties relating to said office as the city treasurer shall authorize and direct. It shall be the duty of the other assistants in said office to perform such duties as may be required of them by the city treasurer. DEPARTM I T Or SAFATY. Section 6: There shall be the following named officer and assistants in the fire department, to-wit: Chief of the fire depart- ment , assistant chief of the fire department, engineer, assistant engineer, three captains, four lieutenants, four auto drivers, eight pipemen. The chief of the fire department shall be the administrat- ive head of the department. It shall be the duty of the assistants in said department to perform the duties indicated by the name of their employment, and such other duties as the chief of the fire department or the commissioner of public safety may authorize and direct. Section 7: There shall be the following named assistants in the health department, to-wit: A deputy health officer, an assist- ant deputy health officer. It shall be the duty of such deputies to perform the duties pertaining to said department under the direction of the health officer. Section 8: There shall be the following named officers and assistants in the police department, to-wit: Chief of police, one captain, one sergeant, one jailer, fifteen partolmen, two desk clerks. It shall be the duty of the assistants in said department to perform the duties indicated by the name of their employment, and such other duties as the chief of police or commissioner of safety may authorize and direct.
