EVERETT POLICE MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION <br />PAGE 28 <br />ARTICLE 18 - FUNERAL LEAVE <br /> <br />18.1 Leave. <br />18.1.1 When death occurs among members of an employee's immediate family, the employee, <br />upon request to the Chief of Police or designee, will be granted time off to assist with <br />funeral arrangements as necessary and to attend the funeral. The employee will be <br />compensated at his/her normal salary for the hours lost from his/her regular schedule, <br />before or after the funeral, with the maximum of four days allowance. This time off shall <br />not be deducted from accumulated sick leave, vacation, or other earned time off. <br /> <br />18.1.2 “Members of an employee's immediate family” shall include spouse, domestic partner <br />and children, to include stepchildren and children of a domestic partner; parents, <br />stepparents, and siblings of the employee or spouse or domestic partner; grandparents <br />or step-grandparents of the employee or spouse or domestic partner; or grandchildren. <br />18.1.3 Domestic partner is defined for purposes of this article as the criteria outlined by the <br />City's Domestic Partner Resolution or the State Registry. Proof of criteria may be <br />requested. <br />
