DEI STRUCTURAL
DIBBLE ENGINEERS INC EVALUATION REPORT
January 23, 2025
Ronak Shah
2222 120th PL SE
Everett, WA 98208
Re: Shah Residence—Tree Strike
DEI Project#25-005
Dear Mr. Shah:
Dibble Engineers, Inc. (DEI) performed a site visit at the Shah Residence on Wednesday, January 81h, 2025. Present
at the site was Ronak Shah, the homeowner, and Tom Andrews of DEI. The purpose of the site visit was to review
the extent of the damaged structural conditions as they relate to the recent tree strike that impacted the southeast
corner of the house. The purpose of this report is to outline our observations and provide additional follow up
recommendations.
Proiect Description
The project is located at 2222 120th PL SE in Everett,Washington. The existing building is a single-story wood
framed single-family residence with a combination of trusses and rafter(stick)framing at the roof overframing. The
structure was constructed in 1993. During the windstorm,on November 191h, 2024, a tree struck the house at the
southeast corner. Our assessment is limited to the areas exposed and accessible to observation (Reference SK-1).
However, additional framing damage adjacent to the damaged roof framing may be uncovered during the course of
cleaning the debris and repairing the damage.
DEI observed the following damages to the residence that will need to be repaired or retrofit. Please refer to the
following sections for further information:
Item#1 —Damaged Roof System
Item#2—Damaged Drywall and Interior Finishes
ITEM#1: DAMAGED ROOF SYSTEM
nhservatlons
DEI observed substantial structural damage to the roof system, including but not limited to the overframing,
some minor damage to roof trusses, and the roof sheathing. During the site visit and reviewing photos
provided by the owner(Photo#1), DEI observed a minimum of three rafters and the ridge-beam that were
substantially damaged (Photos#24). DEI also observed that the roof sheathing was damaged at various
locations, the full extent was not visible during the site visit as temporary sheathing was already in place.
DEI observed top chord damage at the exterior truss on the east side of the building (Photos#5-6)and at
the interior truss at the south side of the building between the exterior and girder trusses (Photo#7).Also, at
the exterior truss on the south side of the building DEI noted one of the web members had become
displaced (Photo#8). DEI noted that no press plates were visible on the exterior truss members on the
south side of the structure.
DIBBLE ENGINEERS INC 11029 Market Street, Suite 200, Kirkland WA 980331425.828.4200 1 • •• • •
