34 <br /> <br />ARTICLE 23 - LINE OF PROGRESSION <br />Requirements to take promotional examinations within the fire service are as follows: <br /> <br />Firefighter Driver/Engineer Two (2) years of service as an Everett Fire Department. <br />*Firefighter/Paramedic Two (2) years of service in the City of Everett Fire Department. <br />AND <br />Three (3) years Certification as a Washington State Emergency Medical <br />Technician (Basic). <br />Medical Services Officer Three (3) years of service as an Everett Fire Department Paramedic. <br />Deputy Fire Marshal Two (2) years of service as an Everett Fire Department Firefighter. <br />Assistant Fire Marshal One (1) year service in the Fire Prevention Bureau as a Deputy Fire Marshal; <br />or be a Captain for two (2) years; or hold a Battalion Chief's appointment. <br />Fire Captain Four (4) years of service within the Everett Fire Department. <br />Battalion Chief Three (3) years of service as a Captain with the Everett Fire <br />Department. <br />Fire Division Chief Eight (8) years of service in the Everett Fire Department, plus four-year <br />degree OR a two-year degree and Matrix 2. <br />All of the above are based upon the entry level classification of Firefighter. <br />Promotional Exam Results <br />Employees that take a promotional exam that are not eligible to promote, or act will be placed on the promotional list <br />and ranked after those that take the promotional exam that are eligible to promote or act. <br /> <br />Requirements to be promoted or to be eligible to act within the fire service are as follows: <br /> <br />Firefighter Driver/Engineer Three (3) years of service as an Everett Fire Department Firefighter. <br />*Firefighter/Paramedic Two (2) years of service in the City of Everett Fire Department. <br />AND <br />Three (3) years Certification as a Washington State Emergency Medical <br />Technician (Basic). <br />Medical Services Officer Four (4) years of service as an Everett Fire Department. <br />Deputy Fire Marshal Three (3) years of service as an Everett Fire Department Firefighter. <br />Assistant Fire Marshal One (1) year service in the Fire Prevention Bureau as a Deputy Fire Marshal; <br />or be a Captain for two (2) years; or hold a Battalion Chief's appointment. <br />Fire Captain Five (5) years service within the Everett Fire Department. <br />Battalion Chief Four (4) years service as a Captain with the Everett Fire <br />Department. <br />Fire Division Chief Ten (10) years service in the Everett Fire Department, plus four-year degree <br />OR a two-year degree and Matrix 2. <br />All of the above are based upon the entry level classification of Firefighter. <br /> <br />*The position of Firefighter/Paramedic shall be a promotional selection process from within the Everett Fire <br />Department and would become open/competitive only in the event that the position(s) could not be filled by <br />qualified in-house candidates. <br /> <br />Members appearing on Civil Service lists for Drivers, Captain, Battalion Chief, Deputy Fire Marshal, and Medical
