PGSF WMVD Storm and Combined Sewer - Construction Package 2 Injection Grouting
Project No. 180162 03 64 00 - 4

2. The ability to tolerate some dilution and react in moving water during injection.
3. A viscosity of approximately 2 centipoises, which can be increased with additives.
4. A constant viscosity during the reaction period.
5. A controllable reaction time from 10 seconds to 1 hour.
6. A reaction (curing) that produces a homogenous, chemically stable, non-
biodegradable, firm, flexible gel.
7. The ability to increase mix viscosity, density, and gel strength using additives.
8. Accepted Product Manufacturers:
a. Avanti AV-100.
b. Avanti AV-118,
c. DeNeef AC-400,
d. or Approved Equal.
2.03 ADDITIVES
A. Latex additive (or equal) to strengthen the grout, provide protection against shrinkage,
and improve the strength of the gel. The quantity of latex additive will be according to the
manufacturer recommendation. Adjust the grout admixture to meet specified viscosity
and reaction time. Follow manufacturer’s recommendations for product handling and
storing. Latex additive shall not contain organic solvents and shall have the following
characteristics.

Solids Content 49% minimum ASTM D-1010
pH 7.5-8.5 8.0 Average
Viscosity 130 cps @ 77°F ASTM D-1638
Density 8.52 lbs./gal. ASTM D-1564W
Solvent Water
B. A root deterrent chemical such as dichlobenil to the grout in proportions as
recommended by the manufacturer.
C. A shrink control agent that is a water-based emulsion with the grout. The shrink control
agent shall reduce shrinkage and improve strength of the grout providing the resultant
cured material with both improved hydrostatic pressure resistance and flexibility. The
agent shall be added in proportions as recommended by the manufacturer. The use of
anti-freeze or other agent that is not specifically recommended by the manufacturer is
prohibited. Product shall be Avanti AV-257 or approved equal.
D. Add gel time extending agent in accordance with the Manufacturer’s recommendations
to extend gel time, as necessary. Product shall be potassium ferricyanide (KFe), or equal.
