<br />PGSF WMVD Storm and Combined Sewer - Construction Package 2 Existing Utilities Coordination and Location <br />Project No. 180162 02 01 10 - 1 <br /> <br />SECTION 02 01 10 <br />EXISTING UTILITIES COORDINATION AND LOCATION <br />PART 1 GENERAL <br />1.01 DESCRIPTION <br />A. This section specifies requirements to locate existing utilities and coordinate with Utility <br />Owners. <br />1. Utilities, both known and not known (not shown) shall be located and protected <br />during performance of the Work. <br />a. Known utilities are shown on Drawings based on the best available record <br />information and visible surface expression of utilities (i.e., covers, valve boxes, <br />etc.) <br />2. Existing utilities include but are not limited to potable water, combined sewer, <br />sanitary sewer, storm water, gas, electric, telephone, communication, traffic control, <br />and other utility lines or service lines, both underground and overhead. <br />B. Numerous parallel and crossing utilities are in close proximity to the Work which may or <br />may not lie within the Contractor’s excavation/trench zone. <br />1. The cost of utility coordination (811 Call before you dig), coordination with Utility <br />Owner, subsurface investigations and excavations, location, verification and <br />protection of utilities must be included in the bid item to which the Work is <br />appurtenant. <br />C. The Contractor must locate existing utilities sufficiently in advance of construction to <br />identify conflicts and allow for their timely resolution to prevent schedule delays. <br />1. Work around, crossing, or adjacent to existing utilities must be performed in <br />accordance with the Utility Owner’s requirements for methods (e.g., hand-digging), <br />protection, notification and stand-by. <br />2. Utilities shall be maintained in service at all times unless otherwise specified. Any <br />disruption of service must be coordinated with and approved by the Utility Owner in <br />writing. <br />3. Where necessary, provide and maintain bypass facilities necessary to maintain <br />existing utilities in service. <br />4. Provide the Construction Manager with the name and contact information for <br />Contractor’s Responsible Person who can be contacted regarding problems during <br />construction on a 24 Hour Basis. <br />D. The Contractor's attention is called to the following utilities, in particular. This list shall <br />not be taken as a complete list of parallel and/or crossing utilities and additional <br />potholing is required. <br />1. 16” W (C-2060-C2069) <br />a. Field verify connection locations, access pit crossing, and depth of cover <br />2. UG Power Crossing STA 32+14.37 (C-2106) <br />a.
