PGSF WMVD Storm and Combined Sewer - Construction Package 2 Cast-in-Place Concrete <br />Project No. 180162 03 30 00 - 22 <br /> <br />D. Broom Finish: <br />1. Float the concrete surface as indicated above, then immediately give the concrete a <br />coarse transverse scored texture by drawing a broom or burlap belt across the <br />surface in accordance with ACI 301. <br />2. Provide a Broom Finish for steps and ramps, exterior exposed horizontal surfaces, <br />and where otherwise indicated. <br />E. Samples Of Concrete Slab Finishes: <br />1. Provide a sample concrete slab, minimum 4 feet by 4 feet, representative of <br />workmanship and each specified finish. <br />2. Samples shall be approved by the Owner’s Representative prior to the start of <br />production work. The samples shall be on display at the job site, and finished <br />surfaces shall match samples. <br />3.13 RELATED SURFACES <br />A. Finishing of Unformed Surfaces: <br />1. Adjacent Unformed Surfaces: <br />a. Tops of walls, buttresses, horizontal offsets, and similar unformed surfaces <br />occurring adjacent to formed surfaces shall be struck smooth after concrete is <br />placed and shall be Float Finished to a texture reasonably consistent with that of <br />the adjacent formed surface. <br />b. Continue final treatment of formed surface uniformly across the top of the <br />unformed surface. <br />2. Pavements and Sidewalks: <br />a. The surface of the concrete shall be screeded to grade and sloped to drain. After <br />screeding, the surface shall be Float Finished followed by a Broom Finish. <br />b. Round edges and expansion joints to a radius of 1/2 inch. Control joints shall be <br />grooved or sawcut to a minimum depth of 1/4 the slab thickness. <br />3.14 FIELD SAMPLING AND TESTS <br />A. General: <br />1. Field sampling and tests shall be performed by an independent testing laboratory. <br />Samples of aggregates and concrete will be obtained at such times to represent the <br />quality of the materials and work throughout the project. <br />2. The laboratory shall provide necessary labor, materials and facilities for sampling <br />aggregate and for casting, handling, and initially storing the concrete samples at the <br />work site. <br />3. The minimum number of samples and tests are specified in Testing paragraph below. <br />B. Sampling: <br />1. Aggregates: <br />a. General: <br />1) Sample fine and coarse aggregates in accordance with ASTM D75 not less <br />than 30 days prior to the use of such aggregates in the work.
