<br />PGSF WMVD Storm and Combined Sewer - Construction Package 2 Erosion and Sedimentation Control <br />Project No. 180162 31 25 00 - 14 <br /> <br />B. Temporary Spoil Piles <br />1. Place material in a contained area with sediment control. <br />a. Contain area with ecology blocks and/or sediment fences to control runoff. <br />b. Cover or use sprinkler to control dust and sediment runoff. <br />C. Erosion Control Matting and Blankets <br />1. Provide cover measures to protect all disturbed areas from erosion, including flat <br />graded areas, the faces of cut and fill slopes, and stockpiles. <br />a. Provide cover measures if an area is to remain unworked for more than seven (7) <br />days during the dry season (May 1 to September 30) unless otherwise approved <br />by the Owner’s Representative on a case-by-case basis. <br />b. Provide cover measures if an area is to remain unworked for more than two (2) <br />consecutive days during the wet season (October 1 to April 30), unless otherwise <br />approved by the Owner’s Representative on a case-by-case basis. <br />c. Cover slopes and stockpiles with side slopes 3:1 or steeper that will remain <br />unworked for more than 12 hours. <br />D. Plastic Sheeting <br />1. The use of plastic sheeting shall be limited to the covering stockpiles, or very small <br />graded areas for short periods of time. Duration of installation is limited to 30 days <br />before permanent measures are installed. <br />2. Embed edges a minimum of 6 inches in soil around the entire perimeter of plastic <br />sheeting. <br />3. Overlap joints with minimum two feet lap and tape seam. <br />4. Install hold downs at all excavation faces and at stockpiles. <br />5. Secure hold downs with polypropylene rope at ten feet on center, 10 feet maximum <br />each way, across the entire surface of plastic sheeting. <br />6. Anchor the polypropylene rope by driving 2-inch x 4-inch stake at the top of <br />excavations or bottom of stockpiles and tying rope to stake. <br />7. Sandbag hold-downs: <br />a. Secure with 1/4-inch polypropylene rope at ten feet on center maximum each <br />way. <br />E. Stabilized Construction Entrance <br />1. Per BMP C105, Stabilized Construction Entrance SMMWW <br />2. Establish Construction entrances at transitions from disturbed areas to paved areas, <br />including on-site paved areas. <br />3. Construction entrances shall be a minimum of 100 feet in length and shall provide <br />full width of ingress/egress area (15 feet minimum). <br />4. Provide culverts where roadside ditches are present. <br />5. Installation: <br />a. Install in accordance with the Drawings and at all locations vehicles access and <br />exit the Site. <br />b. Constructed of 4-inch to 8-inch quarry spalls, placed to a minimum thickness of <br />12 inches.
