Where shown in the Plans, the
contractor shall install quadrupole loops at stop lines due to stub-out
diameter. At locations where quadrupole loops are shown and adequate
stub-out diameter exists, round loops may be substituted for quadrupole
loops.

Existing Traffic Loops

The Contractor shall notify the Area Traffic Engineer through the Engineer a
minimum of five (5) working days in advance of pavement removal or grinding in
areas with existing loops.

If the Engineer suspects that damage to any loop, not identified in the Plans as
being replaced, may have resulted from Contractors operations or is not
operating adequately, the Engineer may order the Contractor to perform the field
tests specified in Section 8 20.3(14)D. The test results shall be recorded and
submitted to the Engineer. Loops that fail any of these tests shall be replaced.

Loops that fail the tests, as described above, and are replaced shall be installed
in accordance with current City of Everett design standards and Standard
Drawings, as determined by the Engineer.

If traffic signal loops that fail the tests, as described above, are not replaced and
operational within 5 working days, the Contractor shall install and maintain
interim video detection until the replacement loops are operational. The type of
interim video detection furnished shall be approved by the Engineer prior to
installation.

GLF 8-20.4.DOCX
8-20.4 Measurement

Section 8-20.4 is supplemented with the following:

(******)
Vehicle Loop Detectors, for both loop perimeter and home run, shall be measured by the
linear foot of the neat sawcut line in place in the roadway. No additional measurement will
be made for the installation of lead-in conduit and shall be included in the measurement

Loop Detector Lead-In Cable shall be measured by the linear foot of the neat line of
conduit between the controller cabinet and loop splice.
