assistant deputy treasurer, and stenographer. It shall be the duty of the deputies in said office to perform the duties of the city treasurer under his direction and authority. It shall be the duty of the other assistants in said office to perform such duties as may be required of them by the city treasurer. DEPARTMENT OF SAFETY. Section 6. There shall be the following named officer and assistants in the fire department, to-wit: Chief of the fire department; assistant chief; engineer , assistant engineer; three (3) captains; four (4 ) lieutenants; eleven (11) 'Apemen. The 'shelf of the fire department shall be the administrative head of the department. It shall be the duty of the assistants in said department to perform the duties indicated by the name of their employment, and such other duties as the chief of the fire department or the Commissioner of Safety may authorize and direct.
