Major passenger inter-modal terminals. Everett Station, located at Pacific and
Smith Avenues, is expected to be completed in late 2001 will be a full service
inter-modal terminal providing access to a variety of modes. These modes
include:
a) Amtrak intercity passenger rail;
b) commuter rail service as part of Sound Transit;
c) regional and local transit provided by Sound Transit, Everett Transit,
Community Transit and Skagit Transit;
d) intercity bus service provided by Greyhound and Continental Trailways;
e) park and ride lots;
f) taxi service;
g) bicycle trail connections and on-site facilities; and
h) pedestrian connections to downtown Everett.
The station will include office space and commercial space for complementary
services. The Everett Station is expected not only to be the hub for transportation
services in Everett,but also a catalyst for potential land use changes around the
station.
5. Freight railroad system: The BNSF mainline includes the railroad line that skirts
Everett's shoreline and passes below downtown Everett through an existing
tunnel and continues to the southeast. Each of the rail lines in Everett carries enough
rail freight to qualify as strategic freight corridors. Railroad and street crossing
grade separation projects planned or in progress in Everett include:
a) Pacific Avenue overcrossing of the BNSF mainline;
b) 36th Street crossing of the BNSF mainline as a result of the construction of the
41st Street Overcrossing;
c) California Street, Hewitt Avenue, and Bond Street crossings of the Bayside
Line as a result of the construction of the California Street Overcrossing.
d) Lowell-Snohomish River Road crossing of the BNSF mainline as a result of
the construction of Riverfront Parkway,that will connect to the 41St Street
Overcrossing;
e) Everett Avenue Overcrossing of the BNSF Canadian Line.
