The manufacturer's recommendations shall be furnished to the <br /> 2 Engineer prior to the start of work and shall include recommended heating time and <br /> 3 temperatures, allowable storage time and temperatures after initial heating, allowable <br /> 4 reheating criteria, and application temperature range. <br /> 5 <br /> 6 Crack sealing with hot poured sealants shall be controlled to confine the material within <br /> 7 the crack or joint. Any overflow of sealant shall be cleaned from the pavement surface. <br /> 8 If, in the opinion of the Engineer, the Contractor's method of sealing the cracks and <br /> 9 joints with hot poured sealant results in an excessive amount of material on the <br /> I 10 pavement surface, the operation shall be stopped and corrected to eliminate the excess <br /> 11 material. <br /> I12 <br /> 13 5-04.3(5)C2 Crack Sealing Areas Prior to Paving <br /> 14 In areas where HMA will be placed the cracks and joints shall be filled with sand slurry. <br /> I15 <br /> 16 5-04.3(5)C3 Crack Sealing Areas Not to be Paved <br /> 17 In areas where HMA will not be placed the cracks and joints shall be filled as follows: <br /> 18 <br /> I19 1. Cracks 1/4 inch to 1 inch in width shall be filled with hot poured sealant. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 2.
