1 8E04i docx <br /> 2 8-04 CURBS, GUTTERS, AND SPILLWAYS <br /> 3 (******) <br /> 4 <br /> 5 SECTION 8-04.1 OF THE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS IS DELETED AND REPLACED <br /> 6 BY THE FOLLOWING: <br /> 7 <br /> 8 8-04.1 Description <br /> 9 <br /> 10 "Cement Concrete Curb and Gutter Type A-1", "Cement Concrete Curb Type " and <br /> 11 "Asphalt Concrete Curb", shall be in accordance with Section 8-04 of the Standard <br /> 12 Specifications as modified in these Special Provisions and shall conform to the <br /> 13 Construction Plans and Standard Drawings. <br /> 14 <br /> 15 SECTION 8-04.3(1) OF THE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS IS SUPPLEMENTED BY <br /> 16 THE FOLLOWING: <br /> 17 <br /> 18 8-04.3 Construction Requirements <br /> 19 <br /> 20 8-04.3(1) Cement Concrete Curbs, Gutters, and Spillways <br /> 21 <br /> 22 Joints shall be dummy joints at a maximum spacing of 15' with 1/2" through- <br /> 23 expansion joints at beginning of curves, at curb return tangency points, at each <br /> 24 side of catch basins, and at driveways. <br /> 25 <br /> 26 The subbase for curb and gutter sections shall be compacted to 95% density at <br /> 27 optimum moisture content before placing the curb and gutter. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 The top of the finished concrete shall not deviate more than 1/8" in 10', nor the <br /> 30 alignment 1/4" in 10'. <br /> 31 <br /> 32 Where shown on the plans, or as directed by the Engineer, the concrete curb will <br /> 33 be depressed for wheelchair ramps and driveways, per Standard Drawings No. <br /> 34 306A, 310A, 310B, 310C, 310D and 311. <br /> 35 <br /> 36 Cement concrete curbs shall be constructed where shown on plans or as directed <br /> 37 by the Engineer in accordance with Standard Drawing Nos. 305A, 305B and 305C. <br /> 38 <br /> 39 At locations shown on the construction plans, the Contractor shall construct storm <br /> 40 drainage frames and grates into cement concrete curb and gutter, per Standard <br /> 41 Drawings Nos. 407 and 408. <br /> 42 <br /> 43 8-04.3(2) Painted Traffic Curb <br /> 44 <br /> 45 Concrete curbing shall be painted with two full coats of paint conforming to Section <br /> 46 9-34.2, as shown in the Plans or as designated by the Engineer.
