1 <br /> 1 <br /> 2 If substitution is permitted, a list of proposed substitutions including plant species, variety, and <br /> 3 size must be submitted for approval in written prior to plant purchase and delivery to site. When <br /> 4 substitution is allowed, use current ASNS standards to determine the correct height, caliper, <br /> 5 and/or rootball volume of the substituted material that corresponds to that of the specified <br /> 6 material. These substitutions shall be approved by the Engineer and be at no additional cost to <br /> 7 the Contracting Agency. <br /> 8 <br /> 9 Construction Requirements <br /> 10 <br /> 11 Responsibility During Construction <br /> 12 <br /> 13 Section 8-02.3(1) is supplemented with the following: <br /> 14 <br /> 111 <br /> 16 Throughout planting operations, the Contractor shall keep the premises clean, free of <br /> 17 excess soils, plants, and other materials, including refuse and debris, resulting from the <br /> 18 work. <br /> 19 <br /> 20 At the conclusion of work, the Contractor shall remove surplus soils, materials, and debris <br /> 21 from the construction site and shall leave project in a clean condition. <br /> 22 <br /> 23 Landscape materials shall not be installed until weather permits and installation has been <br /> 24 authorized by the Engineer. 1 <br /> 25 <br /> 26 Planting Area Preparation <br /> 27 <br /> 28 Delete the third paragraph of Section 8-02.3(5) and replace with the following: <br /> 29 <br /> 30 (******) <br /> 31 The areas shall be brought to finished grade before planting. All excess material and <br /> 32 debris, stumps, and rocks larger than 3 inches, shall be removed and disposed of off the <br /> 33 project site or as approved by the Engineer. The costs of removing all excess material and <br /> 34 debris shall be considered incidental to and included in the unit contract prices of other <br /> 35 items in this contract. <br /> 36 <br /> 37 Layout of Planting <br /> 38 <br /> 39 Section 8-02.3(7) is deleted and replace by the following: 11140 <br /> 41 (******) <br /> 42 The Contractor is responsible for determining final quantities of plant material to complete <br /> 43 the Plans as shown. The Contractor shall coordinate with the Engineer the final location for <br /> 44 all plant materials prior to site delivery. The Contractor shall neither deliver to the site nor <br /> 45 install planting materials until authorized by the Engineer. <br /> 46 <br /> 47 The Engineer shall reserve the option of selecting and reviewing plant material at the <br /> 48 nursery. The Contractor shall provide the Engineer with at least one week notice prior to <br /> 49 preparing plants for shipping. <br /> 50 <br /> 51 Field adjustments for plant layout shall be approved by the Engineer prior to installation. <br /> 52 , <br /> RIVERFRONT DEVELOPMENT NORTH WETLAND COMPLEX 114 <br />
