II
1 3. A sufficient number of bench marks for levels to enable the Contractor to set
I 2 grades at reasonably short distances.
3 4. Monuments and control points as shown on the Drawings.
4 The Contractor shall give the City 3 weeks notification to allow adequate time to
I 5 provide the above data.
6 The Contractor shall ensure a surveying accuracy within the following tolerances:
7 1. Slope stakes ±0.1 foot
I 8 2. Subgrade blue tops ±0.01 foot
9 3. Stationing ±0.01 foot
10 4. Alignment ±0.01 foot
11 5. Surfacing red & yellow tops ±0.01 foot
12 6. Superstructure elevations ±0.01 foot (from plan elevations)
13 7. Substructure ±0.02 foot (from plan elevations)
I 14
15 The Contractor shall stake the alignment and extents of the limits of work, staging areas,
16 channel excavation, proposed clearing and grubbing, breach excavation, and habitat
17 berms. Stakes shall be set at 50' maximum intervals. The Contractor shall survey the
I 18 grades of the breach excavation areas, prior to earth disturbing activities, by taking
19 transects perpendicular to the channel alignment at 25 ft spacing. Transects shall
20 extend at minimum 10 feet beyond the top of the excavation shown on the Drawings
I 21 After excavation is complete to the lines and grades on the Drawings, the contractor
22 shall repeat the transects.
23
I
24
25 The Contractor shall slope stake the roadway before any construction may proceed.
Slope stakes shall be set at 50' maximum intervals on tangents and 25' on curves.
26 Subgrade bluetops and surfacing red and yellow tops shall be set at 50' intervals in
I 27 tangent sections, 25' intervals in curve sections, and 10' intervals in intersection radii.
28
29 The Contractor's surveyor shall be a licensed surveyor in the State of Washington. The
I 30 Contractor shall keep updated survey field notes in a standard field book and in a format
31 set by the Engineer. These field notes shall include all survey work performed by the
32 Contractor's surveyor in establishing line, grade and slopes for the construction work.
33 Copies of these field notes shall be provided to the Engineer upon request and upon
I34 completion of the contract work; the field book shall be submitted to the Engineer and
35 become property to the City.
36
I 37 If the survey work provided by the Contractor does not meet the standards of the
38 Engineer, then the Contractor shall, upon the Engineer's written request, remove the
39 individual or individuals doing the survey work and the survey work will be completed by
40 the Engineer at the Contractor's expense.
