I <br /> 1 1. Remove or repair any condition resulting from the work that might impede traffic <br /> I2 or create a hazard. <br /> 3 2. Keep existing traffic signal and highway lighting systems in operation as the work <br /> 4 proceeds. (The Contracting Agency will continue the routine maintenance on <br /> 1 5 such systems.) <br /> 6 3. Maintain the striping on the roadway at the Contracting Agency's expense. The <br /> 7 Contractor shall be responsible for scheduling when to renew striping, subject to <br /> 8 the approval of the Engineer. When the scope of the project does not require <br /> 9 work on the roadway, the Contracting Agency will be responsible for maintaining <br /> 10 the striping. <br /> 11 4. Maintain existing permanent signing. Repair of signs will be at the Contracting <br /> 12 Agency's expense, except those damaged due to the Contractor's operations. <br /> 13 5. Keep drainage structures clean to allow for less flow of water. Cleaning of <br /> 14 existing drainage structures will be at the Contracting Agency's expense when <br /> 15 approved by the Engineer, except when flow is impaired due to the Contractor's <br /> 16 operations. <br /> I17 6. Provide a uniformed off-duty Police Officer to control traffic in critical situations as <br /> 18 determined by the Engineer. The uniformed officer shall be paid under contract <br /> 19 item "Flaggers and Spotters". <br /> 1 20 7. Notify the local Fire, Police and Engineering Departments before the beginning of <br /> 21 each phase of construction so that these agencies may re-route their emergency <br /> 22 vehicles around the construction zone. The non-emergency phone number for <br /> I <br /> 23 Everett Police is 258-2484, for Fire Dispatch is 257-8757, and for Public Works <br /> 24 Engineering is 257-8800. <br /> 25 8. Notify City of Everett Transit at 257-8984 and Community Transit at 348-7100 of <br /> 26 all street closures or delays at least 24 hours in advance to enable rerouting of <br /> 27 buses. <br /> 28 9. Notify the property owners at least 72 hours in advance to enable them to <br /> II 29 remove vehicles parked in the vicinity of work. Towing vehicles shall be the <br /> 30 responsibility of the Contractor and no additional payment will be made. <br /> 31 General Requirements -Traffic <br /> 32 The following general requirements apply to all work on the project: <br /> 33 1. On all streets, a minimum of one (1) traffic lane in each direction shall remain <br /> 34 open to through traffic at all times during the project. <br /> 35 2. The Contractor shall be responsible for notifying all affected property owners <br /> 36 prior to commencing the barricading of streets, sidewalks and driveways. <br /> I <br /> 37 3. All business driveways shall remain open except as necessary to permit curing of <br /> 38 construction materials or for short periods of time as required for excavations. <br /> 39 However, at least one (1) driveway per business shall remain open to vehicular <br /> 40 traffic at all times unless otherwise approved by the Engineer and affected <br /> 41 property owner in writing. <br /> 42 4. Signs and barricades shall be supplemented by lanterns or flasher units during <br /> 111 43 the hours of darkness. <br /> 44 5. Drivers of motor vehicles used in connection with the construction shall obey <br /> 45 traffic rules posted for such location in the same manner and under the same <br /> 46 restrictions as provided for the drivers of private vehicles. <br /> 47 6. The Contractor shall, at all time throughout the project, conduct the work in such <br /> 48 a manner as will obstruct and inconvenience vehicular and pedestrian traffic as <br /> I <br /> 111 RIVERFRONT DEVELOPMENT NORTH WETLAND COMPLEX 53 <br />
