Pavement drop-off warning signs shall be <br /> I2 placed in advance and throughout the drop-off treatment. <br /> 3 C) Temporary concrete barrier or other approved barrier installed on the traffic <br /> 4 side of the drop-off with 1 foot between the drop-off and the back of the barrier <br /> 5 and a new edge of pavement stripe a minimum of 2 feet from the face of the <br /> 6 barrier. An approved terminal, flare, or impact attenuator will be required at the <br /> 7 beginning of the section. For night use, the barrier shall have standard <br /> I8 delineation such as paint, reflective tape, lane markers, or warning lights. <br /> 9 4. Drop-offs more than 0.50 foot not within the traveled way or auxiliary lane shall be <br /> I 10 protected with appropriate warning signs and further protected as indicated in 3a, 3b, <br /> 11 or 3c if all of the following conditions are met: <br /> 12 a) The drop-off is less than 2 feet; <br /> I13 b) The total length throughout the project is less than 1 mile; <br /> 14 c) The drop-off does not remain for more than three working days; <br /> I 15 d) The drop-off is not present on any of the holidays listed in Section 1-08.5; and <br /> 16 e) The drop-off is only on one side of the roadway. <br /> I 17 <br /> 18 5. Drop-offs more than 0.50 foot that are not within the traveled way or auxiliary lane <br /> 19 and are not otherwise covered by No. 4 above shall be protected with appropriate <br /> I 20 warning signs and further protected as indicated in 3a or 3c. <br /> 21 6. Open trenches within the traveled way or auxiliary lane shall have a steel-plate cover <br /> 22 placed and anchored over them. A wedge of suitable material, if required, shall be <br /> I 23 placed for a smooth transition between the pavement and the steel plate. Warning <br /> 24 signs shall be used to alert motorists of the presence of the steel plates. <br /> 25 <br /> I 26 1-07.24 Rights of Way <br /> 27 Delete this section in its entirety, and replace it with the following: <br /> 28 <br /> I 29 Street right of way lines, limits of easements, and limits of construction permits are <br /> 30 indicated in the Plans. The Contractor's construction activities shall be confined within <br /> 31 these limits, unless arrangements for use of private property are made. <br /> I 32 <br /> 33 Generally, the Contracting Agency will have obtained, prior to bid opening, all rights of <br /> 34 way and easements, both permanent and temporary, necessary for carrying out the <br /> I 35 work. Exceptions to this are noted in the Bid Documents or will be brought to the <br /> 36 Contractor's attention by a duly issued Addendum. <br /> 37 <br /> 38 Whenever any of the work is accomplished on or through property other than public right <br /> I 39 of way, the Contractor shall meet and fulfill all covenants and stipulations of any <br /> 40 easement agreement obtained by the Contracting Agency from the owner of the private <br /> 41 property. Copies of the easement agreements may be included in the Contract <br /> 42 Provisions or made available to the Contractor as soon as practical after they have been <br /> 43 obtained by the Engineer. <br /> 44 <br /> j 45 Whenever easements or rights of entry have not been acquired prior to advertising, <br /> 46 these areas are so noted in the Plans.
