1. In General -The Utilities Division shall identify and provide notice to <br /> persons that may be affected by lead contamination resulting from either <br /> or both of the following: <br /> a.) The lead content in the construction materials of the public water <br /> distribution system. <br /> b.) Corrosively of the water supply sufficient to cause leaching of lead. <br /> I. In such manner and form as may be reasonable required by the Administrator of <br /> the Safe Drinking Water Act Amendments of 1986. Notice under this paragraph <br /> shall be provided notwithstanding the absence of a violation of any national <br /> drinking water standard. <br /> Contents of Notice -Notice under this paragraph shall provide a clear and readily <br /> understandable explanation of: <br /> a.) the potential sources of lead in the drinking water, b.)potential adverse <br /> health effects, <br /> b.) c.) reasonable available methods of mitigating know or potential lead <br /> content in drinking water, <br /> d.) any steps the system is taking to mitigate lead content in drinking <br /> water, and <br /> e.)the necessity for seeking alternative water supplies, if any. <br /> II. DEFINITION OF LEAD FREE-For purposes of this section, the term "lead free" <br /> 1. when used with respect to solders and flux refers to solders and flux <br /> containing not more than 0.2 percent lead and <br /> 2. when used with respect to pipes and pipe fittings refers to pipe and pipe <br /> fittings containing not more than 8.0 percent lead. <br /> 3. <br /> K. The 2000 Edition of the Uniform Plumbing Code is hereby amended by the addition of <br /> the following: <br /> Violation Citation—Order <br /> Notwithstanding any language in this Code, in the event a time period is <br /> established in (1) a violation citation issued by a Code Compliance Officer or the <br /> Building Official, or (2) and order issued by the Violations Hearing Examiner, <br /> said time period shall supersede the time period provided by this Code. <br /> Section 4: This Ordinance shall not be construed nor held to repeal Ordinance No. 2363- <br /> 99 as to any offense committed against such former ordinance or as to any act done, any <br /> penalty, forfeiture or punishment so incurred, or any right accrued or claim arising under <br /> the former ordinance, or in any way whatever to affect any such offense or act so <br /> DEDI/ORDINANCE/UNIF FLUB CODE 2000 <br />
