RESOLUTION NO. 6730 <br /> A RESOLUTION setting a public hearing before the City Council on June 4, <br /> 2014, at 6:30 p.m. to receive comments on the City's intent to extend the term of <br /> the Business Improvement Area and special assessment levy for three additional <br /> years. <br /> Whereas, the City, after a public hearing on June 29, 2005, adopted Ordinance No. 2842-05 <br /> establishing the existing Downtown Business Improvement Area; and <br /> Whereas, the City, after a public hearing on June 4, 2008, adopted Ordinance No. 3075-08 <br /> extending the term of the existing BIA for one additional year, to June 30, 2011; and <br /> Whereas, the City, after a public hearing on June 1, 2011, adopted Ordinance No. 3222-11 <br /> extending the term for three additional years,to June 30, 2014; and <br /> Whereas, businesses and property owners within the BIA have indicated that they value the <br /> BIA's use of special assessment revenues to fund programs and services, such as security, <br /> maintenance, and economic development; and <br /> Whereas, businesses and property owners wish to continue the special assessment levy at a rate <br /> similar to that described in Section 5 of Ordinance No. 2842-05 and wish to continue to fund the <br /> programs and services described in Section 4 of said Ordinance; and <br /> Whereas,the City is willing to initiate and declare its intention to extend the term of the BIA for <br /> three additional years, extend the special assessment levy for an three additional years, and <br /> authorize a three year budget for the existing BIA; and <br /> Whereas,the City will hold a public hearing to receive comments on the same; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> EVERETT: <br /> Section 1. The City Council will hold a public hearing on the 4th day of June, 2014, at 6:30 p.m., <br /> or as soon thereafter as possible, in the City Council Chambers, 3002 Wetmore Avenue, in <br /> Everett, Washington, to consider a three year extension of the existing BIA and special <br /> assessment levy and to consider approval of a three-year budget for the existing BIA, as more <br /> fully specified below. <br /> Section 2. Pursuant to Chapter 35.87A RCW, it is the intention of the City to extend the term of <br /> the Downtown BIA, established by Ordinance No. 2842-05, for three additional years, within the <br /> following described boundaries: <br /> Page 1 of 6 <br />
