the building official becomes null and void if work is not commenced within one hundred <br /> and eighty days of issuance and is not completed within one year of issuance. Permits <br /> may be renewed one time with an additional payment of one-half of the original fee. <br /> Any person installing, altering or relocating a sign for which a permit has been issued <br /> shall notify the code compliance officer upon completion of the work. No sign shall be <br /> deemed approved until the code compliance officer has conducted a final inspection and <br /> indicated his approval on the face of the sign permit. <br /> Upon approval of the final inspection of any sign for which this chapter requires a permit, <br /> the city shall issue a sticker which shall be permanently attached to the sign, which <br /> indicates that the sign complies with the requirements of this chapter. <br /> is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> D. Issuance of Permits—Inspection. Following approval by the planning department, <br /> the building official shall issue a permit for erection, alteration or relocation of a sign <br /> upon receipt of a valid application, provided that the sign complies with all applicable <br /> laws and regulations of the city. <br /> Section 38. Section 36.140.F of Ordinance No. 1671-89, as amended, (EMC 19.36.140), is <br /> hereby repealed. <br /> Section 39. Section 36.160 of Ordinance No. 1671-89, as amended, (EMC 19.36.160), is <br /> hereby repealed. <br /> Section 40. Section 36.170 of Ordinance No. 1671-89, as amended, (EMC 19.36.170), Sign <br /> Category Requirements, which reads: <br /> Specific uses in individual zones are designated in the use-standards table as having Sign <br /> Category A, B, C, D or E. The specific regulations pertaining to each sign category are <br /> contained in this section. <br /> is hereby amended to read as follows: <br /> Table# 6.1 specifies a sign category for each zone. The specific regulations pertaining to <br /> each sign category are contained in this section. Where there is a conflict between the <br /> general and specific regulations, the more specific regulations shall control. <br /> Section 41. Section 36.170.A.4 of Ordinance No. 1671-89, as amended, (EMC <br /> 19.36.170.A.4), Sign Category Requirements which reads: <br /> 4. Projecting Signs.
