May 21, 2014 <br /> The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to order at 6:30 <br /> p.m., May 21, 2014 in the City Council Chambers of the Everett City Hall, <br /> Council President Moore presiding. Upon roll call it was found that Mayor <br /> Stephanson and Council Members Roberts, Moore, Murphy, Gipson, <br /> Bader, Stonecipher, and Anderson were present. <br /> Council Member Stonecipher led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> The minutes of the May 14, 2014 City Council meeting were approved as <br /> printed. Council Members Murphy abstained from the vote. <br /> Council President Moore announced that council agenda items 2 and 3 <br /> are related to item 12, the Uneven Cub Timber Sale, and will be inserted <br /> and acted upon just prior to that item. Council agenda item 11 will be <br /> moved to the council briefing agenda after the health benefit review. <br /> MAYOR <br /> OATH OF OFFICE <br /> Moved by Council Member Gipson, seconded by Council Member <br /> Roberts to concur with the appointment of Pendleton Cook as a new <br /> police officer. <br /> Roll was called with all council members voting yes. <br /> Motion carried. <br /> The Deputy City Clerk administered his oath of office and Mayor <br /> Stephanson presented him with his badge. <br /> Mayor Stephanson shared that in early April he asked staff to begin work <br /> to convene a taskforce of community members, business owners and <br /> service providers to focus on street level social issues, including <br /> homelessness and loitering, primarily in Everett's commercial cores. The <br /> goal of this effort is to provide a common baseline of education for all <br /> taskforce members including learning from other cities about possible <br /> 129 <br />
