POLICE HQ—MASONRY CLEANING AND REPAIR APRIL 15,2016 <br /> ' SECTION 01 1100—SUMMARY OF WORK <br /> PART 1 -GENERAL <br /> 1.01 WORK COVERED BY THIS CONTRACT <br /> ' A. The work of this contract comprises of the masonry cleaning and repair of the Police <br /> Headquarters building located at 3002 Wetmore Avenue, Everett WA. <br /> B. JOB DESCRIPTION: The following is a general outline, and is not intended to be a <br /> complete listing of the work to be accomplished nor is it intended to be used to indicate <br /> ' the order the work is to be completed. All items listed below is a general list of items <br /> included in the work and should be verified prior to bidding. The Work includes but is <br /> not limited to the supply and installation of all materials, equipment,and labor necessary <br /> to perform the work in full. <br /> C. Work under the Contract shall also include: <br /> 1. WATER SPRAY CLEANING: Low-pressure,water spray and brush cleaning of <br /> exposed masonry,cast stone and concrete surfaces(painted and unpainted). Work <br /> includes both vertical and horizontal surfaces. <br /> 1 2. MASONRY REPAIR: Repairing masonry, including replacing units. Inspecting all <br /> masonry surfaces for damage not indicated on drawings. Removing abandoned anchors. <br /> Painting reinforcing steel uncovered during the work. <br /> 3. MASONRY REPOINTING: Repointing joints with mortar. Inspecting all masonry <br /> ' joints for damage not indicated on drawings. <br /> 4. EXTERIOR BRICK: Will be removed, salvaged and reinstalled. <br /> 5. HELIX TIES: Through brick/hollow clay tiles/terra cotta masonry shall be one of the <br /> following: dry fit pins as manufactured by Helifix North American Corp, <br /> Ontario,Canada; or Heli-tie manufactured by Simpson Strong Tie Company. Pins shall be <br /> installed in strict accordance with manufactures recommendations. Special inspection of <br /> pins is required. <br /> 6. TESTING: Testing shall be performed for each type of Helical Wall Tie installation, <br /> including exterior patch work. Testing shall be reviewed by a City of Everett <br /> representative and architect prior to the installation of the remainder of wall ties. <br /> 7. WATER REPELLENTS: Applying penetrating water-repellent treatments for the <br /> following vertical and horizontal surfaces: Clay Brick Masonry and Cast Stone. <br /> 8. JOINT SEALANTS: Install silicone joint sealants. <br /> ' 9. STUCCO REPAIR: Repair of exterior stucco(cement plaster)walls. Inspecting all <br /> stucco surfaces for damage not indicated on the drawings. <br /> 10. EXTERIOR PAINTING: Surface preparation and the application of paint systems <br /> ' on exterior substrates. <br /> 11. DEMOLITION: Contractor shall verify all existing conditions before commencing <br /> any demolition. Shoring shall be installed to support existing construction as required and <br /> in a suitable manner to the work sequences.Demotion debris shall not be allowed to <br /> damage or overload the existing structure. Limit construction loading(including <br /> demolition debris)on existing floor systems to 40 PSF and roof load to 20 PSF. <br /> 1.02 WORK BY OTHERS <br /> ' SUMMARY OF WORK 01 1100- 1 <br />
