Meg Haley
From:
Sent:
To:
Cc:
Subject:

Meg Haley
Monday, September 21, 2015 9:11 AM
Ted Budden
Tony Lee; Jim Venturo; Paul McKee
Referral request to Code Enforcement
Project: RESTORE ACCESSIBLE PARKING
Work Status: W 1501-004
Property Owner: MR. SOTIRIS N BEKRIS
Property: 7318 EVERGREEN WAY
Permit: BW1506-005
Parcel Number: 28050700202300

Ted,
The property has received two complaints this year regarding the lack of accessible parking, and an inadequate parking
layout. In addition to the removal of the previously permitted accessible parking, the number and layout of required
parking spaces does not meet applicable codes.
Please refer the building owner and the property to Code Enforcement no later than 9/28. Two corrections letters and
two notices to refer to Code Enforcement were sent to the owner since April 17th, 2015. The original date to refer to
Code Enforcement was June 26, 2015. This action postponed based on receipt of a permit application on June 8, 2015.
However, the response of the owner and their consultants to notices and corrections issued by the City of Everett has not
been adequate to resolve the complaint within a six month timeframe.
1. Accessible parking was shown on permit B0411-009, when an addition was made to the building. This permit
was finaled on 3/17/2006.
2. Since that time, the parking layout has been modified and parking striping and accessible parking signage has
been altered or removed.
3. The parking for the building is part of the required structure, per the Zoning and Building Codes, and the Everett
Design and Construction Standards.
4. The removal of required parking without permits is a violation of the IPMC section 108.1.4: Unlawful Structures.
5. Planning, Public Works, and Building are currently awaiting a response from the owner to the second corrections
letter, which was e-mailed on August 28th. A letter was mailed the following week.
6. The owner and their consultant came to the Permit Services counter on September 18, 2015. It was determined
at that time by the Planning Department that a variance would be required to resolve the overall number of
parking spaces.
Nteg
MEG HALEY, RA City of Everett Permit Services
3200 Cedar St, Everett WA 98201 425.257.8813
mhaleV@everettwa.gov www.everettwa. ov Permits
_ _ ___----P - ----
