Jeff Heilman
From: David Carson [david@carsonlawgroup.com]
Sent: Friday, April 12, 2013 8:53 AM
To: Jeff Heilman
Subject: RE: 1526 Oakes Ave
Jeff,
It looks like the cost to re-engineer and add more wood to the roof that has been successfully covering this
house for the last 80+years will exceed the cost to simply tear off the old roof and framing completely and
put on all new engineered trusses. This is certainly not my first choice given the fact that this will add yet
more expense to this pro ject. I will have that added to the plans. Can I then assume that all of the roof
issues should then be resolved.
I hope we do not lose sight of the fact that this house was in very bad shape. What we are trying to do is to
restore this run down house so that it is an attractive addition to the neighborhood, not an eyesore as it has
been.
dsc
-----Original Message-----
From: Jeff Heilman [mailto:JHeilman@everettwa. ocLv]
Sent: Tuesday, April 09, 2013 4:19 PM
To: David Carson
Sub ject: RE: 1526 Oakes Ave
I would say at this point that any work done to the roof needs to be included in the remodel permit since the
structural integrity of the roof is in question.
The siding can be replaced without a permit as long as the sheathing is not modified. However, the addition of
the bay window and the fireplace need to be reviewed and approved by the planning department. Therefore I
suggest that you not side the fireplace enclosure or trim out the bay window until you know that they have
been approved for their current configuration by the planning department.
Jeff Heilman
Development Technician
City of Everett
Engineering/ Public Services Division
3200 Cedar Street, Everett WA 98201
Phone 425-257-8976
Fax 425-257-8857
-----Original Message-----
From: David Carson [mailto:davidCcarsonlawgroup.com]
Sent: Tuesday, April 09, 2013 4:03 PM
To: Jeff Heilman
