June 4, 2014
The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to order at 6:30
p.m., June 4, 2014 in the City Council Chambers of the Everett City Hall,
President Moore presiding.
Council President Moore gave an update on the budget development
process. He thanked all those who have attended meetings and provided
input.
Upon roll call it was found that Mayor Stephanson and Council Members
Roberts, Moore, Murphy, Bader, Stonecipher, and Anderson were
present. Council Member Gipson was excused.
Council Member Murphy led the Pledge of Allegiance.
The minutes of the May 28, 2014 City Council meeting were approved as
printed.
MAYOR
Mayor Stephanson shared his recommendations for taking the first steps
to bring the city's finances into structural balance for the long term. He
thanked everyone who contributed to the process - employees,
community members, business leaders, council members and staff.
COUNCIL
Council Member Murphy, as budget chair for the council, thanked the
entire city council, and in particular, his two budget liaisons, Council
Members Anderson and Moore, for their diligence and pointed questions
related to the budget process. He also thanked the Mayor and his staff
for their diligent and thorough budget work over the past six months.
Council Member Stonecipher expressed concern regarding remarks made
by Council Members Moore and Murphy, which involved meetings with
city administration and staff members that have occurred behind the
scenes and not on the dais.
145
