CITY OF EVERETT SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br /> 8-20.3(14)C Induction Loop Vehicle Detectors <br /> Induction loops shall be constructed as detailed in City of Everett Drawing Nos. <br /> 802A, 806, and Section 8-20.3(14)C of the Standard Specifications with the <br /> following modifications: <br /> 1) The loop locations shall be marked on the pavement by the contractor and <br /> approved by the engineer prior to sawcutting. At no point shall any of the <br /> sawcuts pass closer than 1' to any utility cover. <br /> 2) Loop detector sealant shall be on the QPL and also be approved by the <br /> Engineer. <br /> 3) Rope is not required. <br /> 4) Loops shall not be installed in rainy weather or at temperatures below 40°F. <br /> 5) Loops shall be placed in the sawcut in a clockwise direction. <br /> 6) The loop sealant shall be applied in accordance with the manufacturer's <br /> recommendations. <br /> 7) Loop wire shall be as shown on COE Standard Drawing 806. <br /> 8) The area around the conduit stub-out shall be patched with hot mix asphalt <br /> concrete if it is greater than 2" in width. <br /> 9) The sawcuts shall be of uniform depth and any sharp edges, abrasions or <br /> ridges shall be removed prior to placing the wire. <br /> 10) The sawcut depth shall be a minimum of 3W and shall provide a minimum of <br /> 2" cover above the loop wires. <br /> 11) The sawcut width shall be a minimum of 1/4" for the loop and 3/8" for the <br /> home run. <br /> 12) The sawcut shall be cleaned out with a high pressure water stream and then <br /> dried with compressed air prior to placing the wire. <br /> 13) All splices between the loop wire and the loop lead-in cable shall be soldered <br /> and utilize a Scotch Cast Epoxy 82-B1 splice kit in conformance with <br /> Standard Plan 806, <br /> 14) When the roadway is to be overlayed as a part of the project, the loops shall <br /> be installed prior to the final overlay. <br /> 15) Circular loops are standard installations. The Contractor may propose the <br /> use of square or rectangular loops for consideration by the Engineer. <br /> 8-20.4 Measurement <br /> Delete all paragraphs in 8-20.4 and substitute the following: <br /> Bid items of Work completed pursuant to the Contract Documents will be measured as <br /> described in Division B - Bid Item Descriptions and Section 1-09 MEASUREMENT <br /> AND PAYMENT of the Standard Specifications. <br /> 8-20.5 Payment <br /> Delete all paragraphs in 8-20.5 and substitute the following: <br /> Payment for Bid items of Work completed pursuant to the Contract Documents will be <br /> as described in Division B - Bid Item Descriptions and Section 1-09 MEASUREMENT <br /> AND PAYMENT of the Standard Specifications. <br /> 8-21 PERMANENT SIGNING <br /> 8-21.1 Description <br /> Supplement 8-21.1 by adding the following: <br /> Work involving installing traffic regulatory signs shall be in accordance with COE <br /> Standard Drawing 716 and street name signs in accordance with COE Standard <br /> Drawing 715 and 718 and as indicated on the Plans. <br /> Water Main Replacement"Q" Division 8—MISC CONSTRUCTION July 8, 2016 <br /> -Broadway <br /> WO No.—UP3612 SP-170 <br />
