4.1.11 Pedestrian Connections: <br /> Intent: To create a network of safe and attractive linkages for <br /> pedestrians. <br /> Guidelines: Within parking lots, between a public right-of-way <br /> and building entrances, and between parking lots and <br /> building entrances, clearly defined pedestrian connections <br /> should be provided. <br /> • Pedestrian connections can be counted toward the amount of <br /> required landscaping. <br /> • Pedestrian connections shall not be less than five feet wide. <br /> • Pedestrian connections shall be clearly defined by at least two of <br /> the following: <br /> - A six-inch vertical curb, <br /> - Textured paving, including across vehicular lanes, <br /> or <br /> - A continuous landscape area at a minimum of three <br /> feet wide on at least one side of the walkway. <br /> • Elevated pedestrian connections should be constructed across 13th <br /> Street to link hospital and clinical facilities. <br /> 4.1.12 Rooftop Mechanical Equipment: <br /> Intent: To ensure that rooftop mechanical equipment is screened to <br /> respect the residential neighborhood character. <br /> Guidelines: Mechanical and electrical equipment mounted on <br /> the roof shall be organized,proportioned, detailed, <br />
