May 30, 2012 <br /> Mayor Stephanson also reminded everyone of the 100th anniversary of <br /> Scoop Jackson's birthday and the commemorative event which will take <br /> place on May 31st at the Hansen Center at 4:00 p.m. and is free to the <br /> public. <br /> CITY COUNCIL <br /> Council Member Moore thanked the citizens who expressed interest in <br /> filling the vacant seat on the council, and thanked President Gipson for his <br /> efforts to assure an expeditious and transparent process. <br /> Council Member Roberts reported that he attended the memorial for <br /> Senator Jackson on Sunday, and thanked Larry O'Donnell and the folks <br /> who helped put that together. <br /> President Gipson reported that Neil Anderson of the Historic Commission <br /> has agreed to provide volunteers to join Council Member Roberts on the <br /> naming policy committee. President Gipson seeks another council <br /> member to serve on the committee, and would like to see the process <br /> completed within thirty days. <br /> President Gipson also cautioned the council against making detailed <br /> announcements regarding their absences on the public record, as it opens <br /> them up to possible criminal activities. <br /> CITY ATTORNEY <br /> City Attorney Iles had no comment. <br /> CITIZEN COMMENTS <br /> Gail Chism, Everett, voiced support for the appointee for the vacant <br /> council seat, spoke against expansion of service at Paine Field, and <br /> thanked the council for their support of the CHIP and mini grant programs. <br /> 145 <br />
