I I 1 Prior to the Pre Turn-on coordination meeting, the Contractor shall complete the I 2 3 items of work detailed in the Traffic Signal Turn-on Checklist and submit the completed checklist to the Engineer. The Traffic Signal Turn-on Checklist form will 4 be furnished to the Contractor by the Engineer. I 5 6 Prior to scheduling a turn-on date, the Contractor shall provide verification to the 7 Engineer that tests 1, 2, and 3 as specified in this section have been completed. ' 8 9 Prior to scheduling a turn-on date, the Contractor shall provide verification to the 10 Engineer that: 11 I 12 A) Field tests 1, 2, 3 and 4 as specified in this section have been 13 completed; 14 I 15 B) All other field tests specified in Section 8-20.3(14) have been 16 completed. 17 I 18 19 Paragraph 4, sentence 2 of the Standard Specifications ("The Contractor shall provide the Engineer a minimum of 5-days advance written notice of the proposed 20 traffic signal turn-on date and time.), shall be replaced with the following: I 21 22 Upon the essential completion of the traffic signal construction, the Contractor 23 shall provide the Engineer with a minimum of five (5) working days advance 24 written notice of their requested traffic signal turn-on date and time. As part 25 of the minimum of five (5) days advance written notice of the proposed signal 26 turn-on, a minimum of two (2) working days shall be provided with an 27 essentially complete signal system to allow the City traffic signal technician to I 28 inspect the installation and equipment and cabinet wiring terminations. The 29 Engineer will then determine if the date and time is acceptable; if not, a new 30 date and time will be negotiated that is agreeable to both the Contractor and I 31 32 the City. Included with this written notice shall be a signal plan, prepared by the Contractor, showing the anticipated conditions at the time of signal turn- 33 on unless the signal is to be turned on and operated in the final configuration I 34 35 indicated on the bid plan set. Any interim plan shall show all items affecting the operation of the traffic signal, the channelization and other traffic control 36 devices. In cases where the traffic signal is to be turned on in a condition I37 substantially different than intended in the original contract plans, a minimum 38 of ten (10) working days written notice shall be required. This notice shall 39 include detailed plans, prepared by the Contractor, showing the proposed 40 signal configuration at turn-on. I 41 42 8-20.3(11)A Traffic Control (New Section) 43 I 44 The Contractor shall provide uniformed Police control at any time an 45 intersection is dark or inoperative, such as during controller change-out, cable 46 installation, signal turn-on or cut-over, or similar circumstances. The I 47 48 Contractor shall have all traffic controls (i.e., pavement markings, channelization and signing) in place prior to requesting Engineer's approval for 49 turn-on or cut-over. Signalized intersections of Pacific Ave and Rucker Ave, 1 50 51 Pacific Ave and Grand Ave, and Pacific Ave and W Marine View Drive shall not be police controlled between the hours of 12:00pm to 7:30pm.
