Meg Haley
From: Meg Haley
Sent: Monday, September 08, 2014 2:07 PM
To: Ted Budden; Spring Wathen
Cc: Tony Lee; Kevin Fagerstrom
Subject: 2024 Grand Ave CE14-0778
RE: 2024 Grand Ave
CE14-0778, opened 9/5/14
The owner, William [Mike] Murphy came to the building counter today to find out what the next steps are on his
property. Mr. Murphy asked specifically that the city representatives contact him directly, and not the tenants,
regarding the structure. His phone number is 425-239-2191.
Mr. Murphy also stated that he has started work demolishing the porch (without permits).
Mr. Murphy is now aware that a building permit is required to repair, replace, or demo a portion or all of the structure.
I have not yet done the research yet to determine what the property is previously or historically permitted as, either
single family, duplex, or triplex. Mr. Murphy has been given the permit submittal checklists for both, pending the
outcome of the research.
Although Mr. Murphy stated he had certified the building as a triplex with either the Planning Department or the
Historic Commission, he quickly stated that his intention is to either demo the building or board it once I explained
minimum building code requirements, depending on which building code applied. Mr. Murphy did not make a decision
at the counter, since he has to talk to his wife to confirm.
I gave him the phone number for Code Enforcement at his request to find out more about options regarding boarding
the building.
gest,
Meg
Meg Haley, RA I Ptah,Revi.ew.Architect I Peyntit services.city of Everett 3200 Cedar st.I Everett,WA 9'201
425-257-8813 I mhaley@everettwa.gov http://www.cLeverett.wa.ks/default.aspx?iD=1170
1
