I <br /> 1 9-10.AP9 <br /> 2 Section 9-10, Piling <br /> 3 August 3, 2015 <br /> 1 4 9-10.2(1) Concrete <br /> 5 The first paragraph is deleted. <br /> 6 <br /> 7 The first sentence of the second paragraph is deleted. <br /> 8 <br /> 9 9-10.5 Steel Piling <br /> 10 This section is revised to read: <br /> 11 <br /> I13 12 The material for rolled steel piling H-piling and pile splices shall conform to ASTM A 36,ASTM A 572 or ASTM A 992. The material for steel pipe piling and splices shall <br /> 14 conform to one of the following requirements except as specifically noted in the Plans: <br /> 15 <br /> 16 1. API 5L Grade X42 or X52 material may be used for longitudinal seam welded <br /> 17 or helical (spiral) seam submerged-arc welded pipe piles of any diameter. <br /> 18 <br /> I 19 <br /> 20 2. ASTM A 252 Grade 2 or 3 material may be used for longitudinal seam welded <br /> or helical (spiral) seam submerged-arc welded pipe piles of any diameter. For <br /> 21 the purposes of welding and prequalification of base metal, steel pipe pile <br /> 22 designated as ASTM A 252 may be treated as prequalified provided the <br /> 23 chemical composition conforms to a prequalified base metal classification <br /> 24 listed in Table 3.1 of the AWS D1.1/D1.1M, latest edition, Structural Welding <br /> 25 Code, the grade of pipe piling meets or exceeds the grade specified in the <br /> 26 Plans, and the carbon equivalent (CE) is a maximum of 0.45-percent. <br /> 27 <br /> 28 3. ASTM A 572 or ASTM A 588 material may be used for longitudinal seam <br /> 29 welded piles of any diameter. <br /> 30 <br /> 31 For helical (spiral) seam submerged-arc welded pipe piles, the maximum radial offset of <br /> 32 strip/plate edges shall be 1/8 inch. The offset shall be transitioned with a taper weld and <br /> 33 the slope shall not be less than a 1 in 2.5 taper. The weld reinforcement shall not be <br /> 34 greater than 3/16 inches and misalignment of weld beads shall not exceed 1/8 inch. <br /> 35 <br /> 36 Steel soldier piles, and associated steel bars and plates, shall conform to ASTM A 36, <br /> 37 ASTM A 572 or ASTM A 992, except as otherwise noted in the Plans. <br /> 38 <br /> 39 All steel piling may be accepted by the Engineer based on the Manufacturer's <br /> 40 Certificate of Compliance submitted in accordance with Section 1-06.3. The <br /> 41 manufacturer's certificate of compliance submittal for steel pipe piles shall be <br /> 1 42 accompanied by certified mill test reports, including chemical analysis and carbon <br /> 43 equivalence, for each heat of steel used to fabricate the steel pipe piling. <br /> 44 <br /> I <br /> I <br /> AMENDMENTS TO THE 2014 STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS BOOK <br /> Revised: 8/3/15 <br />
