1 <br /> 1 <br /> I 2 Location wire shall be steel core copper clad minimum size AWG 14 insulated <br /> 3 conductor. The insulation shall be orange High Molecular Weight High Density <br /> 4 Polyethylene (HMHDPE). <br /> 5 <br /> I <br /> 6 9-29.13(2) Manufacturing Quality <br /> 7 This section, including title, is revised to read: <br /> 8 <br /> 1 9 9-29.13(2) Traffic Signal Controller Assembly Testing <br /> 10 Each traffic signal controller assembly shall be tested as follows. The Contractor shall: <br /> 11 <br /> I 12 1. Prior to shipping, arrange appointment for testing at the WSDOT Materials <br /> 13 Laboratory. <br /> 14 <br /> I 15 2. Assembly shall be defined as tightening all screws, nuts and bolts, verifying <br /> 16 that all wiring is clear of moving parts and properly secured, installing all <br /> 17 pluggables, connecting all cables and ensure that all Contract required <br /> 18 documents are present, proper documentation is provided, and all equipment <br /> 19 required by the Contract is installed. <br /> 20 <br /> 21 3. The Contractor shall demonstrate that all of the functions required by the <br /> I22 Contract perform as intended. Demonstration shall include energizing the <br /> 23 cabinet and verifying that all 8 phases, 4 pedestrian movements and 4 <br /> 24 overlaps (as required by the Contract Provisions) operate per Section 9-29.13. <br /> 1 25 The Contractor shall place the controller in minimum recall with interval timing <br /> 26 set at convenient value for testing purposes. Upon a satisfactory <br /> 27 demonstration the controller assembly will then be accepted by WSDOT for <br /> I 28 testing. <br /> 29 <br /> 30 4. If the assembly and acceptance for testing is not complete within 7 calendar <br /> I <br /> 31 <br /> 32 days of delivery, the Project Engineer may authorize the return of the <br /> assembly to the Contractor, with collect freight charges to the Contractor. <br /> 33 <br /> 34 5. WSDOT will test each traffic signal control assembly in accordance with the <br /> 35 following test methods, WSDOT T 421, T 422, T 423, T 424, T 425, T 427, and <br /> 36 T 428. <br /> 37 <br /> I <br /> 38 6. If the traffic signal control assembly passes all testing, the Contractor will be <br /> 39 notified where the assembly is to be picked-up for delivery to the project. The <br /> 40 Contractor shall pick-up the assembly within 7 calendar days of notification. <br /> I 41 <br /> 42 7. If the traffic signal control assembly fails testing, the Contractor has 7 calendar <br /> 43 days to repair or replace any components that fail during the testing process at <br /> I 44 no cost to the Contracting Agency. All repairs shall be completed during <br /> 45 normal business hours for the State Materials Lab. A failure shall be defined <br /> 46 as a component that no longer functions as intended under the conditions <br /> I <br /> 47 <br /> 48 required or does not meet the requirements of the Contract and is at the sole <br /> discretion of WSDOT. Once all repairs and replacement of components is <br /> 49 complete WSDOT will retest the traffic controller as specified in step 6 and all <br /> I <br /> 50 <br /> 51 costs for retesting will be deducted from monies due or that may become due <br /> the Contractor. <br /> 52 <br /> I <br /> I AMENDMENTS TO THE 2014 STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS BOOK <br /> Revised: 8/3/15 <br />
