I <br /> 10 <br /> 11 "Removing Portion of Existing Structure ", lump sum. <br /> 12 <br /> 13 2-03.AP2 <br /> 14 Section 2-03, Roadway Excavation and Embankment <br /> 15 August 3, 2015 <br /> 16 2-03.1 Description <br /> 17 The first paragraph is supplemented with the following: <br /> 18 <br /> 19 The Work includes the removal of pavement, sidewalks, curbs and gutters as described <br /> 20 in Section 2-02 when these items lie within an excavation area. <br /> 21 <br /> 22 2-03.3 Construction Requirements <br /> 23 This section is supplemented with the following new sub-section: <br /> 24 <br /> 25 2-03.3(19) Removal of Pavement, Sidewalks, Curbs, and Gutters <br /> 26 The requirements of Section 2-02.3(3) shall also apply when pavements, sidewalks, I <br /> 27 curbs, and gutters lie within an excavation. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 2-03.3(1) Widening of Cuts <br /> 30 This section is revised to read: <br /> 31 <br /> 32 If routine cuts do not supply enough material to form the embankment, the Contractor <br /> 33 shall obtain more material from areas inside or outside the Right of Way and/or from <br /> 34 widening one or both sides of existing cuts as determined by the Engineer. The <br /> 35 Contractor shall dress the sides of the cuts to any slopes the Engineer may require. If <br /> 36 the Contractor has dressed a cut before the Engineer determines to widen it, the <br /> 37 Contracting Agency will pay for the resloping as provided in Section 1-04.4. In addition, <br /> 38 material obtained from areas beyond the cuts shown in the Plans that result in <br /> 39 additional haul will be paid by the Contracting Agency as provided in Section 1-04.4. <br /> 40 <br /> 41 2-03.3(14) Embankment Construction <br /> 42 The third paragraph is revised to read: <br /> 43 <br /> 44 Hillside Terraces —The Contractor shall terrace the original ground or embankment <br /> 45 when the slope of the surface is 2H:1V or steeper unless otherwise directed by the <br /> 46 Engineer. The face of each terrace shall be a minimum of 1 foot and a maximum of 5 <br /> 47 feet in height and shall be vertical or near vertical as required to remain stable during <br /> 48 material placement and compaction. The bench of the terrace shall slope outward to <br /> 49 drain and shall not be inclined steeper than 0.05 foot per foot.
