I <br /> 1 materials, RAP, RAS and 100 grams of recovered asphalt residue from the RAP and <br /> I 2 RAS that are to be used in the HMA production. The Contracting Agency will use these <br /> 3 samples to evaluate the mix design for approval on the QPL in accordance with <br /> 4 WSDOT Standard Practice QC-8. <br /> 5 <br /> I6 5-04.3(7)A3 Commercial Evaluation <br /> 7 This section is revised to read: <br /> 1 8 <br /> 9 Approval of a Commercial Evaluation mix design for listing on the QPL will be based on <br /> 10 a review of the Contractor's submittal of WSDOT Form 350-042EF for conformance to <br /> 11 the requirements of Section 9-03.8(2). Testing of the HMA by the Contracting Agency <br /> I <br /> 12 for mix design approval is not required. Mix designs for HMA with greater than 20 <br /> 13 percent RAP by total weight of HMA or any amount of RAS may be evaluated in <br /> 14 accordance with Section 5-04.3(7)A2. <br /> I 15 <br /> 16 For the Bid item Commercial HMA, the Contractor shall select a class of HMA and <br /> 17 design level of Equivalent Single Axle Loads (ESAL's) appropriate for the required use. <br /> I 18 <br /> 19 5-04.3(8) Mixing <br /> 20 The first sentence of the second paragraph is revised to read: <br /> I 21 <br /> 22 When discharged, the temperature of the HMA shall not exceed the optimum mixing <br /> 23 temperature by more than 25°F as shown on the reference mix design report or as <br /> 24 approved by the Engineer. <br /> I25 <br /> 26 The last paragraph is supplemented with the following new sentence: <br /> 27 <br /> 1 28 After the required amount of mineral materials, RAP, RAS, new asphalt binder and <br /> 29 asphalt rejuvenator have been introduced into the mixer the HMA shall be mixed until <br /> 30 complete and uniform coating of the particles and thorough distribution of the asphalt <br /> I 31 binder throughout the mineral materials, RAP and RAS is ensured. <br /> 32 <br /> 33 <br /> I 34 5-04.3(8)A4 Definition of Sampling and Sublot <br /> 35 The second sentence of the second paragraph is revised to read: <br /> 36 <br /> I <br /> 37 <br /> 38 The sublots shall be approximately uniform in size with a maximum sublot size based <br /> on original Plan quantity tons as specified in the following table. <br /> 39 <br /> I 40 This section is supplemented with the following new table: <br /> 41 <br /> HMA Original Plan Quantity (tons) Sublot Size (tons) <br /> <20,000 1,000 <br /> U <br /> 20,000 to 30,000 1,500 <br /> >30,000 2,000 <br /> 42 <br /> 1 43 5-04.3(8)A7 Test Section — HMA Mixtures <br /> 44 This section is revised to read: <br /> 45 <br /> I <br /> 46 For each class of HMA accepted by statistical evaluation with 20 percent RAP or less by <br /> 47 total weight of HMA and no RAS, the Contractor may request a single test section to <br /> 48 determine whether the mixture meets the requirements of Section 9-03.8(2) and 9- <br /> I <br /> I AMENDMENTS TO THE 2014 STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS BOOK <br /> Revised: 8/3/15 <br />
