I 1 Roadway cores for density may be obtained by either the Contracting Agency or the I 2 3 Contractor in accordance with WSDOT SOP 734. The core diameter shall be 4-inches unless otherwise approved by the Engineer. Roadway cores will be tested by the 4 Contracting Agency in accordance with WSDOT FOP for AASHTO T 166. I 5 6 If the Contract includes the Bid item "Roadway Core" the cores shall be obtained by the 7 Contractor in the presence of the Engineer on the same day the mix is placed and at 8 locations designated by the Engineer. When 127 a core is taken for gauge correlation at the location of a sublot, the relative density of 28 the core will be used for the sublot test result and is exempt from retesting. Acceptance 29 of HMA compaction will be based on the statistical evaluation and CPF so determined.
