..:./Ail!11/"..m <br /> 400 <br /> 4iiiiigi <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 2794-04 <br /> AN ORDINANCE implementing the increase in sales tax for Everett City <br /> Transit to be imposed as stated by Proposition No. 1 which was submitted to and <br /> approved by the voters of the City of Everett in the September 14, 2004 election <br /> as certified by the Snohomish County Auditor on September 24, 2004 and <br /> amending Ordinance No. 557-78 (Chapter 3.50 Everett Municipal Code). <br /> WHEREAS,in 1978, under the provisions of RCW 82.14.045, the qualified <br /> voters of the City of Everett approved the City of Everett's fixing and imposing a three- <br /> tenths of one percent(0.3%) sales and use tax to continue to fund public transportation; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council in Resolution No. 5509 submitted Proposition No. 1 <br /> to the qualified voters of the City of Everett: <br /> "PRESERVATION AND ENHANCEMENT OF PUBLIC TRANSIT SERVICE <br /> Shall the City of Everett fix and impose an increase of the sales <br /> and use tax from three tenths of one percent(0.03 percent) to six tenths of <br /> one percent(0.06 percent) on sales and use activity within the City of <br /> Everett to preserve and enhance the current level of public transit service <br /> including bus service and paratransit service for people with disabilities, <br /> provide for anticipated future bus,paratransit and capital needs to support <br /> Everett's growth, improve service coordination with Sound Transit, <br /> Community Transit and the Washington State Ferry System,make other <br /> improvements and provide for future transit needs as authorized by <br /> Resolution No. 5509 ?" ; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Snohomish County Auditor certified on September 24, 2004 that <br /> a majority of the qualified voters of the City of Everett approved Proposition No. 1 in the <br /> election held September 24, 2004; and <br /> 1 <br />
