submission of a proposition, at an April 27, 2010, special election, to the qualified <br /> electors of the City of Everett, for their approval or rejection, on the question of <br /> whether the City shall be allowed to levy emergency medical services property taxes <br /> in excess of the limitation established in Chapter 84.55 RCW and up to the previously <br /> authorized rate of fifty cents ($0.50) per one thousand ($1,000) assessed valuation for <br /> 2011, increasing thereafter as provided in Chapter 84.55 RCW. The proceeds thereby <br /> raised will be used to pay the costs of furnishing emergency medical care and services, <br /> including related personnel costs, training for such personnel, and related equipment, <br /> supplies, vehicles, and structures needed for the provision of emergency medical care <br /> and services. The Snohomish County Auditor is hereby requested to call a special <br /> election as set forth in Section II, below. <br /> Section II. Special Election Requested. <br /> The Snohomish County Auditor, as the ex officio supervisor of elections in <br /> Snohomish County, is hereby requested to call and conduct a special election in the <br /> City of Everett, Snohomish County, Washington, on April 27, 2010, at the hours <br /> established by statute and pursuant to RCW 29A.04.330 and RCW 84.55.050(1). The <br /> purpose of such special election is to submit the proposition detailed in Section III, <br /> below, to the qualified electors of the City of Everett. <br /> Section III. Ballot Title. <br /> Pursuant to RCW 29A.36.071, and as approved by the City Attorney, the <br /> ballot title for the aforesaid proposition shall be substantially as follows: <br /> City of Everett <br /> Proposition No. 1 <br /> Emergency Medical Services Levy Lid Lift <br /> The City of Everett City Council has adopted Ordinance No.317t-(oto place a levy lid <br /> lift for the emergency medical services property tax levy before the voters. <br /> For the continued funding of emergency medical care and services, including <br /> paramedic services, this proposition would allow the City to increase its emergency <br /> medical services property tax levy capacity up to the previously authorized rate of <br /> fifty cents ($0.50) per one thousand ($1,000) assessed valuation in 2011, and increase <br /> the levy each year thereafter as allowed by Chapter 84.55 RCW. <br /> 2 <br />
