August 22, 2012 <br /> The regular meeting of the Everett City Council was called to order at <br /> 12:30 p.m., August 22, 2012, in the City Council Chambers of the Everett <br /> City Hall, Council Member Roberts presiding. Upon roll call it was found <br /> that Mayor Stephanson and Council Members Roberts, Hatloe, Burke, <br /> Stonecipher, and Affholter were present. Council Members Gipson and <br /> Moore were excused. <br /> Council Member Affholter led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br /> The minutes of the August 15, 2012, Everett City Council meeting were <br /> approved as printed. Council Member Affholter abstained from the vote. <br /> MAYOR <br /> Mayor Stephanson commented on the success of various events around <br /> Everett over the past weekend; Fresh Paint, the Schack Art Center Metals <br /> Guild Trunk Show, Craft Beer Festival, and the Experience Everett After <br /> Party. The Mayor also mentioned that Monday was a landmark day when <br /> Washington State University started engineering classes at the University <br /> Center. <br /> COUNCIL <br /> Council Members Stonecipher, Burke, and Roberts also commented on <br /> the success of the weekend events and expressed appreciation for the <br /> many visitors and the hard work expended by City staff. <br /> Council Member Affholter remarked that the start of the WSU program is <br /> a great step for the city and thanked the Mayor for his work. <br /> APPEAL HEARING <br /> As a result of last Wednesday's Appeal Hearing on the denial of Nomiju <br /> Corporation's overnight lodging license for the Best Inn, Council Member <br /> Roberts introduced the Findings and Conclusions affirming the City <br /> Council's support to deny the license renewal. <br /> 233 <br />
