• Large trees with overhanging canopies or branches are desirable. However, species of <br /> street trees shall be of a type approved by the City. <br /> • Between the building and sidewalk there shall be a minimum of 7 ft of Type II <br /> Landscaping. <br /> • Street trees shall be a minimum of 2 1/2"caliper and shall be spaced no further apart <br /> than 25 ft. <br /> • Street tree planting should consider the location of existing utilities, lighting and <br /> proposed signs. <br /> • The Wetmore Ave streetscape shall remain the same dimensions: 10 ft landscaped area <br /> with trees, 6ft sidewalk, and 10 ft landscaped area with trees. <br /> • Tree grates should be installed at the base of each street tree when needed. <br /> 17. Pedestrian Connections <br /> Intent: <br /> To create a network of safe and attractive linkages for pedestrians. <br /> Guidelines: <br /> Within parking lots clearly defined pedestrian connections should be provided: Between a <br /> public right-of-way and building entrances, and between parking lots and building <br /> entrances. <br /> • Pedestrian connections can be counted toward the amount of required landscaping. <br /> • Pedestrian connections shall not be less than 5 feet wide. <br /> • Pedestrian connections shall be clearly defined by at least two of the following: <br /> 1. A 6 inch vertical curb, <br /> 2. Textured paving, including across vehicular lanes, or <br /> 3. A continuous landscape area at a minimum of 3 feet wide on at least one side of <br /> the walkway. <br /> 18 Roof top mechanical equipment <br /> Intent: <br /> To ensure that rooflines present a distinct profile and appearance to the building and <br /> express the residential neighborhood character. <br /> Guidelines: <br /> Mechanical and electrical equipment mounted on the roof shall be organized, <br /> proportioned, detailed, landscaped (with decks or terraces) and colored to be an integral <br /> element of the building. <br /> 19.
