5. Observe and document one day of subcontracted test pit exploration at an estimated 10 exploration
locations. The test pits will extend to depths ranging from 5 to 12 feet bgs. Discrete soil samples will be
obtained from each test pit at approximately 2-foot depth intervals for field screening (samples will be
collected from the center of the backhoe bucket). The test pits will be backfilled with soil from each
respective test pit (with the deepest soil from the test pit being placed back into the test pit excavation
first and so forth).
6. Field screen soil samples from the test pits and borings for evidence of petroleum and volatiles using
visual, water sheen and headspace vapor screening methods. Visually classify the samples in general
accordance with ASTM D2488 and maintain a detailed log of each exploration.
7. Submit selected soil samples from each boring and test pit for chemical analysis based on the
corresponding potential sources of contamination at each location, field screening results, and sample
depth in relation to the water table. Each sample will be analyzed for one or more of the following:
• Gasoline-range organics by NWTPH-Gx
• Diesel-and heavy oil-range organics by Northwest Method NWTPH-Dx
• Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs) by EPA Method 8270
• Polychlorinated biphenyls(PCBs) by EPA Method 8082
• VOCs by EPA Method 8260
• Model Toxics Control Act(MICA) 5 metals by EPA Method 6000/7000 series
• Asbestos by ASTM Method D7521, if building debris is encountered in test pits
Samples will be submitted for analysis on standard turnaround (10 business days).
8. Collect groundwater grab samples from the direct-push borings if sufficient groundwater is encountered
during drilling(for the purpose of this fee estimate we assume that 6 groundwater samples will be tested).
The groundwater samples will be submitted for one or more of the following:
• Gasoline-range organics by NWTPH-Gx
• Diesel-and heavy oil-range organics by Northwest Method NWTPH-Dx
• PAHs by EPA Method 8270
• VOCs by EPA Method 8260
Samples will be submitted for analysis on standard turnaround (10 business days).
9. Investigation wastes (decontamination rinse water and any soil spoils) will be drummed and temporarily
stored on site. Our services include subcontracted transport of drummed investigation waste and off-site
disposal at a permitted landfill facility.
Data Interpretation and Reporting
10. Interpret field and chemical analytical data. Discuss preliminary results with the City.
11. Prepare draft and final Phase II ESA Report. Provide electronic copy of draft report for review by the City.
Assume one round of comments and revision. Provide electronic and hard copies of final report.
Client Meetings and Communications
12.Attend client meetings or teleconference communications.
GeoEngineers,Inc.
File No.0661-108-01
