Possible exceptions to these water demand
projections would be considered by The Tribes to:
• Satisfy a portion of the anticipated 36-mgd water demand with water from the current Joint Operational
Agreement(JOA)at approximately 3.5 mgd, assuming the agreement can be extended beyond 2020.
• Minimize anticipated stream flow augmentation by use of other water sources such as reclaimed water,
different stormwater management approaches, or by storing wet weather surface water flows using
aquifer storage and recovery.
• To serve other agencies outside of the Reservation boundary with water supply from the Tulalip Water
Pipeline.
2.0 WATER SHORT-TERM DEMAND FORECAST-2013
The purpose of revisiting The Tribes short-term water demand forecast is to ensure that the future water supply
system is adequate and to determine when the Tulalip Water Pipeline must be constructed. The steps used to
perform this evaluation were to:
1. Evaluate water use over the past 3 to 5 years.
2. Evaluate population growth and planned development.
3. Estimate water demand for 6, 10, and 15 years in the future.
4. Evaluate the water system facilities needed to deliver future water demand.
The first step in making estimates of future water demand was to compile and evaluate recent water usage data.
Recent water use data was collected from the City of Marysville and the Tulalip Tribe.
The Tulalip Tribes 216-1598-057(01)
Tulalip Water Demand Projections Compared to Water Supply 2 August 14,2013
Options
