TECHNICAL MEMORANDUM (CONTINUED)
Water Supply vs. Demand
9.0
L ..d MDD+5%
7.0 _..y..__,.TM__-_-_w__. _H_________ -_v _
to
-a
c 5.0
E f
- t
to 4.0 — _
o
-
m
2.0 ------- _.4..46 MG e _ - 5--29 MGa-
3.46 MG[?from Including TWP_ _ M Including TU
Marysville Segment 3 to 8 Well Supply
0.0
2013 2015 2017 2019 2021 2023 2025 2027
Year
Figure 2-4. Water Supply vs. Demand
Conclusions: Segments 1 and 2 of the Tulalip Water Pipeline need to be completed to ensure adequate future
water supply. Based on the 7 percent growth projection, the water supply will be at capacity as soon as 2018
unless the TWP is completed or The Tribes utilizes their existing water wells. If the existing Tribal water wells
are used, this date can be delayed. This scenario would also require extension of the wheeling agreement with the
City of Marysville which expires in 2020.
2.2 Summary and Recommendations
This section provides a summary of water demand projections and the need for completion of the TWP. The key
points are:
• To ensure adequate water supply beyond year 2018, Segments 1 and 2 of the Tulalip Water pipeline need
to be completed. This deadline can be delayed if the Tribal water wells are used.
• For short-term water system planning, 5 percent or 7 percent annual growth in water demand is expected.
• Once Segments 1 and 2 of the TWP are completed, the City of Everett can provide up to 36 mgd through
the Tulalip Water Pipeline. This would supply adequate Tribal water beyond the year 2028.
The long-term viability of the Tulalip water system is dependent on the completion of all 8 segments of the
Tulalip water pipeline. It is recommended that The Tribes and City begin work on completing Segments 1 and 2
prior to 2018. It is also recommended that the wheeling agreement with the City of Marysville be extended to
provide an emergency backup water supply,in the event there were problems with the Tulalip pipeline.
The Tulalip Tribes 216-1598-057(01)
Tulalip Water Demand Projections Compared to Water Supply 7 August 14,2013
Options
