Dear Client,
As requested, we have conducted a geotechnical soil investigation in regards foundation
underpinning of the structure at 25 East Beach St. Everett. We performed a field investigation
of the site and determined that portions of the residence are undergoing settlement. In the
course of our investigation, we performed soil sampling to a depth of 4' with a 3" hand auger at
which point the boring was terminated due to obstructions, presumably large gravels. Due to
the presence of charcoal to a depth of 3' in the location of the boring, we concluded that soils
were disturbed within the past 200 years due to construction, clearing, or logging to this depth.
This may have contributed to settlement. We also observed that footings were constructed
within a few inches of grade which may also have contributed to settlement. We understand
that pin piles or push-piers have been proposed to lift and level these portions of the structure
to the extent allowed by the adjacent foundations.
We have concluded, based on our observations and calculations that driven pin piles will
provide suitable support to lift these portions of the foundations and provide long term
support. We note that the proposed locations of lift are single story, which the house having a
2"d story located over the garage. To our I<nowledge, no settlement or underpining is planned
for these portions of the residence.
We trust the information provided in this report is sufficient for your current needs. If
you have any questions, please contact us.
Regards,
Cash M. Carr PE
360-301-5671
