Geoteclinical Report - Revised
Proposed Apartments: 1002, 100b, and 1008 Broadway Street, Everett, ashington
Mav 12, 2015
If the excavltion cannot be accomplished using ecology bSock shoring, then consideration
should be given to using a shoring system consisting of cantilevered soldier piles with
timber lagging.
S.S BASELING SURVY ANU MONITORING
Ground movements will occur as a result of excavatioi activities. As such, ground
surface elevat'rons of the adjacent propeirties and city streets should be documented prior
to commencing earthwork to provide baseline data. ns a miiitnum, optical survey points
should be established at the following locations:
• The top of every otlier soldier pile. Tliese monitoring points slould be
monitored twice a week. The monitoring frequency may be reduced based on
the monitoring results.
• Adjacent structures such as residences, garages, or retaining walls located
within 25 feet of the planned shoring.
The monitoring program should include monitoring for changes in both the horizontal (x
and y directions) and vertical deformations. The monitoring should be performed by the
contractor or the project surveyor, and the results should be promptly submitted to
PanGEO for review. The results of the monitoring will allow the design team to confirm
design parameters, and for the contractor to make adjustments if necessaiy.
We also recommend that the existing cociditions along the public right of way and tlie
adjacent rivate properties be photo-documented priw to commencing earthwork at the
site.
6.0 FARTIIWRK CONS1llERATIONS
b.l MATtiR1AL RE;USE
The native soils underlying the site are rnoisture sensitive, and wil] become disturbed and
soft when exposed to inclement weather conditions. We do nof recommend reusing the
native soils as structural fi1L If it is planned to use the native soil in non-structural areas,
the excavated soil should be stockpiled and protected with plastic sheeting to prevent it
fr-om ecoming saturated by piecipitation ol runoff.
15-045 1008 Broadway, Revised PBge 3 Pt?GF:, Ine.
