Council Member Franklin stated that <br /> she would like to bring forward a resolution declaring the City of Everett to <br /> be an inviting, equitable and safe community for everyone who lives in, <br /> works in, and visits Everett. <br /> President Murphy concurred with Council Member Franklin and stated that <br /> a resolution will be placed on the agenda for next week. <br /> Mayor Stephanson shared with the council and the public a policy <br /> regarding enforcement of immigration laws that prohibits the Police <br /> Department from inquiries into citizenship status, immigration-related <br /> investigations, and inquiries into the immigration status of persons <br /> encountered during police operations. <br /> Council Member Stonecipher asked why the City of Everett is not on the <br /> list of sanctuary cities. <br /> Mayor Stephanson stated that there is no legal definition of a sanctuary <br /> city, and the City of Everett is acting as a sanctuary city. <br /> Council Member Tuohy stated that she will not be in attendance at next <br /> week's meeting, but she fully supports the resolution. <br /> Council Member Roberts provided a recap of the General Government <br /> Subcommittee meeting held earlier this evening. He summarized the <br /> General Government Subcommittee's recommendations regarding the <br /> formation of a committee separate from the Transportation Advisory <br /> Committee (TAC) that would be devoted exclusively to Everett Transit. <br /> President Murphy announced that Item No. 17 has been pulled from <br /> today's agenda. <br /> Dave Davis, Public Works, stated that the staff is in the process of <br /> preparing a new ordinance. He also thanked the Council for their support <br /> regarding the security of the city's water system. <br /> 385 <br />
