(HWA) is planning to conduct our last phase (Phase 4) of eld
explorations program in support of the design of the temporary support structures for the Grand
Avenue Pedestrian Bridge and Associated Utilities Project. We have generated this narrative to
convey the specifics of our proposed explorations to the City of Everett for approval.
Phase 4 of the eYploration program will consist of one boring to be drillcd within the City right
of way. The approximate location of the proposed exploration is indicated in the proposed
exploration plan, Figure 1.
Pliase 4 Explorations
(City of Everett Right of Way): HWA proposes to drill one limited access borings within the
City right of way. This boring, designated BH-3, will be drilled east of West Marine View Drive
and wcst of BNSF right of way. Boring BH-3 will be drilled to a depth of 25 feet below ground
surface to provide bearing capacity infot•ination for the proposed temporary bridge suppor•t
column. Thc approximate location of this exploration is indicated in Figure 1. HWA proposes
to utilize Geologic Drill's Bobcat mounted, drill rig (picture of drill zig shown in Appendix A,
Fiure A-1) litilizing hollow stem auger drilling methods. We anticipate that completion of this
boring will take between 2 and 3 hours. Thc boring operation will be logged by our geologist,
and environniental samples will be collected by Landau and
Associates.
As the proposed boring is to be located near tlle West Marine View
Drive, HWA proposed to utilize shoulder worlc signage along West
Marine View Drive to notify vehicular traffic of the worlc.
