CalPortland implements a number of BMPs on-site to reduce, eliminate, or prevent the
pollution of stormwater from the site. These include:
Critical Elements:
1. Preserve Vegetation/Clearing Limits: The planned current activities at the site
will involve removing some grasses to a limited extent.. The stockpiling and
haul road activity will be completely within the filled area of the property. The
site contains a restored wetland area on the northeast portion of the property.
The wetland area is marked with a split rail fence.
2. Establish Construction Entrance: A construction entrance and exit will be
established on the property. Both entrance and exit are constructed of 4"
quarry spalls. Additionally a road will be established on top of the property
construction spalls. The stabilized entrance will be inspected during the CESCL
inspection and repairs made as needed. The construction entrance and exit
will also be swept on an as-needed basis to control sediment run-off.
3. Control Flow Rates: Drainage from the property is via sheet to the north side
of the property where the water enters an established ditch and flow control
system. Drainage across the property will be maintained using BMP's to
prevent erosion and rilling. Ground infiltration also occurs on this parcel and
will be utilized as possible during the project.
4. Install Sediment Controls: The site has many sediment controls in place as
follows:
5
6
7
8
9
a. The entire site will be surrounded by a silt fence
b. The Cut slopes will be compacted and stabilized or
c. The cut slopes will be fully vegetated by grasses
d. Exposed soil is graded appropriately and compacted and then vegetated
or covered during the wet season
e. Check dams will be used as necessary to control erosion at the entrance
and exit
f. Construction entrance and exit are built of 4" quarry spalls
g. The truck transit road is built of quarry spalls to prevent the exposure of
unvegetated soil to precipitation.
Stabilize Soils: Soils which are exposed in the wet season will be compacted
and covered with plastic or straw consistent with the guidelines of the permit
Protect slopes: The slopes on all sides of the property are designed to a
standard 2:1 ratio. The slopes will be fully vegetated and inspected during the
CESCL inspection for erosion.
Protect Drain Inlets: Not applicable on this project
Stabilize Channels: The site design was approved by the City of Everett for
sheet flow runoff. There are no channels on the property.
Control Pollutants: The site will be kept clean by implementing good
housekeeping procedures. The CESCL will check the site for cleanliness during
the weekly inspection and make changes as necessary. Further no vehicle
maintenance or fueling will be performed on the property.
2 I
